Anyone seen any good films lately. I haven't been paying attention for a few years, but just looked at a "top 2021 films list", which seemingly included everything that could've been released. One hundred percent of the contents looked like dog shit. Some horror, cookie-cutter romance/action, and hyper-ephemeral plus dog whistle. Whatya say?

I've been napping in a stasis chamber for a while, seems like I'm just going to crank up the dial and go back to sleep. Any other medium still kicking these days (i.e. culture which doesn't numb), or is archaeology the future? After a long search only Dune, Holler, and King Richard seemed anywhere close to palatable.

Usually we meet up on rizon with some friends and watch movies together on weekends.
I watched "Never Going to Snow Again", it could be described as plotless dog whistle. There is quite literally a trans strip dance in this film, and a children's show in the background says: "Now, which consumes more water... Meat, that's right!", etc. It crossed my mind that the whole thing might have been ironic, and I think it might have been, but even still I did not enjoy it. I'm unlikely to watch any of the other films listed in >>4 now. I should really simply return to not watching anything at all, and will likely soon.
Two more shit features of modern films I've noticed is the tendency to make everything into a series of loosely connected vignettes and to try to make everything humorous. Immeasurably annoying.

Anyone seen "The Hunt" it's just a comedy, but actually looks pretty funny!
There was a film called "The many saints of Newark" from the creator of the Sopranos. It follows Christian Moltisanti's father and the elders of thr family when they were young, as well as a kid/teen Tony.
It really wasn't very interesting or good.

Sort of like, actually good for what they were working with. In this world, sort of relevant kind of headtrip, but on a bit of a budget with somewhat wooden, soulless acting- which is OK considering.
