Prediction thread

1 2022-05-03 13:35

Posting this here because the rest of the Internet lacks a memory:

Breyer "retired" around the time that it became apparent that the conservative majority would overturn Roe. So did the Thomas impeachment pot stirring. With this in hand, I predict the following narratives to emerge "organically":
1. Voodoo will be pulled that Breyer shouldn't retire and Jackson, who has already been confirmed, should be packed on. Roberts gets to vote with the conservative majority to overturn Roe, but it's now a tie, allowing the lower court decision to stand.
2. Calls to impeach Thomas go full-throated and have Jackson replace Thomas instead of Breyer. Final call on Roe is filibustered by Roberts or the liberal justices until this happens and Roe can be maintained.
Either will be used as electoral fuel to try to minimize the Democratic losses in November.
Fin.
