The establishment of a new Human Rights Commission for British Columbia

David Eby is an award-winning lawyer, noted for his work on constitutional and administrative law issues related to the protection and promotion of human rights and democratic freedoms.

He was an adjunct professor of law at the University of British Columbia, president of the HIV/AIDS Legal Network, and served on the Vancouver Foundation’s Heath and Social Development Committee. From 2009 to 2013, David ran the B.C. Civil Liberties Association as executive director.

David has been recognized as one of British Columbia’s most effective advocates. His work at Pivot Legal Society to protect the human rights and dignity of homeless and under-housed residents of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside was recognized in 2011 by the UN Association in Canada and the B.C. Human Rights Coalition with their annual award. He is the author of several books and articles on legal rights.

Ravi Kahlon was elected as the MLA for Delta North in May 2017. Ravi is the Parliamentary Secretary for Sport and Multiculturalism.

Born and raised in Victoria, Ravi was introduced to Field Hockey by his father and grandfather. He is a two time Olympian in the sport for Team Canada and has been inducted into the Delta Sports Hall of Fame.

Prior to his election as an MLA, Ravi spent seven years in banking, and another six years in the New Democrat Caucus as Director of Stakeholder Relations. He has been active in the North Delta community for many years as a volunteer on the boards of the Delta Parks and Recreation Committee and Men’s High Performance Field Hockey BC.
