Harvard Law Grad Begins Fulbright Fellowship at UVic Law
American Fulbright Scholar Grace Nosek has begun her fellowship at UVic Law under the supervision of Professor Chris Tollefson, director of the Environmental Law Centre.
Nosek was one of 10 recipients of the 2014-15 American Fulbright Student Awards, which are presented to American graduate students or promising young professionals who wish to study and/or conduct research in Canada.
While at the University of Victoria, Nosek will conduct research on her project, “An Examination of Public Participation in Government Review of Energy Pipeline Proposals.”
She will engage in a comparative study into how governments in Canada and America can ensure citizen participation in energy infrastructure decisions. Her research will include a comprehensive review of the legal and regulatory framework surrounding pipeline approval.
Nosek graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School in May 2014. While there, she co-authored, The Dating Game: How Confusing Food Date Labels Lead to Food Waste in America.
She was recently named to Business Insider’s list, The 21 Most Impressive Students at Harvard Law School Right Now.
Prior to attending law school, Nosek graduated magna cum laude from Rice University with a B.A. in French and Policy Studies.
Her professional resume is equally as impressive as her academic accomplishments. She interned at the Department of Justice’s Environment and Natural Resources Division, the Natural Resources Defense Council, and the White House Council on Environmental Quality.
