UVic Student Wellness

The UVic Student Wellness team wants to help you thrive so you can achieve your personal and academic goals. We bring together a team of counsellors, nurses, physicians, spiritual care providers and more to help care for the whole you. Plus we host a ton of great wellness workshops and events, programs and support groups.

SupportConnect

SupportConnect is a free, confidential mental health support service for UVic students. Get connected with qualified counsellors, consultants and life coaches anytime, anywhere.

Student Mental Health Blog

The Student Mental Health blog is run by a group of UVic student bloggers. They’re passionate about promoting wellness and self-care practices. They work to increase awareness of topics related to mental health and decrease stigma towards mental illness.

Harm Reduction Centre

UVic’s Harm Reduction Centre (HRC) helps you make informed and safer choices around sex and substance use. Our aim is to make it as easy as possible for you to access harm reduction supplies and educational materials at UVic.

Vikes Athletics and Recreation

Take part in a variety of sports and recreational activities through Vikes Athletics and Recreation. You’ll meet new people while you explore everthing from intramural team sports to yoga.

UVic AIR program

The Advocacy for Inclusive Recreation (AIR) program provides active programming in an inclusive, safe, and equitable manner to students of the UVSS Advocacy groups on campus.


UVSS / GSS programming

UVSS Peer Support Centre
The UVSS Peer Support Centre has trained student volunteers available to listen and offer non-judgmental, empathetic and confidential support to fellow students.

Health & Dental Plans
The UVSS Health & Dental Plan and GSS Health & Dental Plan offer extended health and dental coverage designed specifically for students to cover expenses not covered by the Medical Services Plan (MSP) for BC residents and other basic health-care programs.

Advocacy groups
The UVSS Advocacy groups provide advocacy, representation, services and events to support UVic students. We encourage you to get involved and/or seek out the wealth of supports offered by these groups.


For Indigenous Students

UVic has a nurse liaison, Indigenous counsellors and an Elders in Residence program to support the wellbeing of Indigenous students. Wellness for Indigenous students

Native Students Union
The Native Students Union is a place to find community and advocacy for Indigenous rights and wellbeing. 


For International Students

All international UVic students are required to have comprehensive coverage for the entire duration of their studies in Canada. The International Centre for Students (ICS) team can help answer any questions you have about medical insurance and coverage.

Global Community
Join a community of international and domestic students, staff, and faculty with the ICS Global Community. They host events and programs to help you stay connected and be well.
