Carleton University Interim President Jerry Tomberlin and Provost and Vice-President (Academic) L. Pauline Rankin have announced the appointment of Dr. Anne Bowker as Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), effective July 1, 2024.
Bowker has served as Interim Dean of FASS since August 2023. Over the past year, Bowker has embarked on strategic planning for the Faculty that includes initiatives to bolster research collaboration, enhance interdisciplinary programs and foster community engagement. Before taking on this role, she was Associate Dean (Student Affairs and Enrollment) within the Faculty.
“In her current role as Interim Dean, Anne has demonstrated exceptional leadership, vision and dedication. I am confident that under Anne’s guidance, the Faculty will continue to thrive and excel in its mission of academic excellence, research and community engagement,” said Provost Rankin.
Bowker is a Professor in the Department of Psychology. Her research explores lifespan development, with a particular focus on the critical transitionary periods of early adulthood and mid-life. She completed her undergraduate studies at Concordia University and holds an MA and a PhD from the University of Waterloo.
