AmeR LAB

Welcome to the Amer Lab!

We are located in the Cornett Building in the University of Victoria and part of the Cognition and Brain Sciences (CABS) Program in the Psychology Department.

We study the relationship between cognitive control (the ability to focus on task-relevant information while ignoring task-irrelevant information) and attention and memory processes across the lifespan. Specifically, using behavioural, eye tracking, and neuroimaging techniques, we investigate how changes in the ability to control the focus of attention (e.g., as seen in healthy aging) are linked to changes in cognition and the contents of memory representations. This work can help us understand how our memories change with age, and whether changes in the structure of memory representations can account for the well-documented age-related deficits in memory performance.
