On the fourth anniversary of the passing of our colleague Gianluigi Zanetti, CRS4 is honored to name the new conference room set up at its Pula headquarters after him.
At the event, which will be held on Thursday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m., Professor Luca Formaggia - MOX Laboratory, Department of Mathematics, Politecnico di Milano - will give the seminar "Numerical simulation of real-life problems involves several challenges, including different space scales, assessing uncertainties, or identifying parameters."
The talk, which will be streamed live on our social channels, discusses challenges in numerical simulation of real-life problems, such as handling various space scales, uncertainties, and parameters. It emphasizes the importance of computational effective models and specifically highlights the use of mixed-dimensional models for addressing spatial scale differences. The speaker also shares their experience with these models and provides an overview of recent work in the MOX Laboratory, incorporating physics-informed machine learning techniques.
