WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - The federal judge in former President Donald Trump’s federal classified documents trial has indefinitely suspended the case. Trump was set to go to court in Florida in just a couple of weeks.

Judge Aileen Cannon said there are too many significant issues to work out before a jury hears the matter. The original start date of the trial was supposed to be two weeks from now on May 20th. Now, it appears the case may not be heard before Election Day in November.

It is a huge win for Trump who has sought to delay all his criminal trials to after the election. Cannon did schedule a pair of hearings for May 22nd on motions to dismiss the charges altogether.

Trump has been accused of dozens of felonies related to illegally retaining classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida and obstructing justice in the federal government’s efforts to get them back. Two of his associates were also charged with allegedly helping Trump to conceal documents and destroy security footage of the operation.

Trump and his co-defendants have pleaded not guilty to the felony charges against them and maintained their innocence.
