LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Gray DC) - As expected, former President Donald Trump easily won Nevada’s Republican Caucus on Thursday. He was the only major Republican candidate running in the contest. Trump now pockets the GOP’s 26 delegates and is one step closer to becoming the party’s nominee for president.

On Thursday, Trump projected confidence during a victory party his campaign hosted here at the Treasure Island Hotel.

“I just want to thank the great people of Nevada,” said Trump. “Get ready! We’re gonna get out there. We’re gonna win. We’re gonna have a great election. We’re gonna turn our country around.”

Former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley, who lost Nevada’s state-run Republican Primary Tuesday to an option labeled “None of These Candidates” says she is staying in the race.

“Just know I’m not going anywhere. I’m in this for the long haul,” said Haley.

On the Democratic side, President Joe Biden is pulling further away from his lesser-known challengers. He also won Tuesday’s primary with ease. Author Marianne Williamson ended her campaign on Wednesday.

“We must keep the White House, we must keep the Senate and we must take back the House,” said Biden.

Now the candidates will shift their focus to the next round of states. The next Republican primary is in South Carolina on February 24th. Democrats will compete in Michigan on the 27th.
