About

Rob Hancock (he/him/his) is Cree-Metis from Treaty 8 territory on his mother’s side and English Canadian on his father’s, although he was born and raised, and is grateful to be living and working, in lək̓ʷəŋən territory. He earned an MA in History and a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies from UVic. He also has an Honours BA in Anthropology and Canadian Studies from McGill and held a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowship in First Nations Studies at the University of Western Ontario.

Rob has worked in the field of Indigenous student affairs since 2011 and is currently the Associate Director Academic in the Office of Indigenous Academic and Community Engagement at UVic, where he is also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology. He is especially looking forward to working with the new Indigenous Alum Community.
