Volunteers

Volunteers are essential to ensuring our convocation ceremonies run smoothly. We invite everyone to help create an unforgettable convocation experience for our graduating students!

  • current and retired staff
  • current and emeritus faculty
  • students and alumni
  • community members

Volunteer roles

Robing assistants

Help students to look their best during their ceremonies. Most of them have never worn graduation robes, hoods or caps!

  • Time commitment: 2 hours (per volunteer shift)

Marshals

Marshals guide students so that they can relax and enjoy their ceremonies. After they've put on their robes, you'll instruct them how to line up for the procession into the ceremony, then lead them into the auditorium.

  • Time commitment: 3.5-4 hours (per volunteer shift)

Greeters

Greeters are stationed around the Clearihue building, helping students to find their rooms as they arrive, and redirecting family and friends to the convocation guest areas.

  • Time commitment: 2 hours (per volunteer shift)

Training

In-person training for Spring 2024 takes place on the following dates:

  • Robing Assistants and Greeters: Wednesday, June 5, 2:00-3:30 p.m.
