Faces of UVic Research: Marcus Milwright
Dr. Marcus Milwright is an art historian, a professor and the director of the Medieval Studies Program at the University of Victoria. His research focus is on the art and architecture of the Islamic Middle East from the 7th to the 20th century. In this video he also compares modern internationalization to that in the medieval period, a comparison that can be made through the study history in art. Faces of UVic Research: Carolyn Butler-Palmer
Dr. Carolyn Butler-Palmer is a professor with the Department of History in Art at the University of Victoria. Carolyn is also the Williams Legacy Chair in Modern and Contemporary Arts of the Pacific Northwest. Her research focuses on critically examining how artists and photographers assert, modify, challenge, or deny the idea of the Pacific Northwest. In this video, she discusses how our culture is seemingly saturated with images nowadays to the point where we don't realize their effect and speaks to a recent art installation in the Victoria Cool-Aid Community Health Centre as a way to use art to enliven a space.
