Brief biography

Mitch Parry studied at the University of Western Ontario (now Western University), with a Master's thesis on depictions of consciousness in the films of Sergei Eisenstein and the fiction of James Joyce. He has taught Film Studies at UWO, Concordia University and the University of Victoria, and has held a variety of positions on film and television productions.

He has written two books of poetry, Tacoma Narrows and Imperfect Penance, both published by Goose Lane Editions. His novella, Vacant Rooms was published by Anvil Press in 1994 and published in a French translation as Chambres Vides by Montreal’s Les Allusifs in 2016. His poetry and reviews have appeared in The Malahat Review, The Fiddlehead, Event, Prairie Fire, Grain and Pottersfield Portfolio, and most recently in the collection I Found It At The Movies: An Anthology of Film Poems. He has also contributed several articles to critical filmographies of South American and Canadian cinemas.
