Course materials
All distance courses use online websites to facilitate communication throughout the course and to provide administrative course information (e.g., instructor information, assignment due dates). Course content including syllabus, assignments, learning activities etc. will be available the first day of class.
Online ordering of required textbooks will be available from the UVic Bookstore one month prior to the start of term.

Graduation and Licensing
Applying to Graduate
As you near the end of your program, you need to apply to graduate to be awarded your credential. Please see Graduation and convocation for graduate students for timelines and instructions.
If you require a degree completion letter for employers or other purposes, you may order one through Online Tools – Student Services.
You must wait until your official convocation date (June or November) to use your designation (eg MN), even if you complete your program requirements before convocation.
Licensing
The British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) is the regulatory body for nurses in British Columbia. BCCNM regulates licensing for Nurse Practitioners in British Columbia. Please see The BCCNM Nurse Practitioners page for guidance on the application process.
Health Services Researcher Pathway
The Researcher Pathway is a self-assessment tool that helps nurses, including graduate students, assess their research competencies. By working through the material in the Nurse Professional Development Tool: Research Competencies, nurses will better understand their knowledge and skills relevant to research and find resources to advance these competencies.

Tuition and Fees
UVic graduate tuition fees are based on the graduate program rather than individual courses. Students pay a total program fee divided into fee installments and charged every term that you are registered. Please see Tuition & Costs for details.
UVic ONECard - Photo ID
The UVic ONECard is the single official identification card for the University of Victoria community. It incorporates many systems and services throughout the university under one card.
Distance Education students can obtain a UVic ONECard by contacting the ONECard office.
Writing resources
The CAC supports undergraduate and graduate students in developing their academic communication and learning strategy skills. These skills include writing, reading, and speaking in an academic environment, as well as understanding the expectations of academic work and presenting that work verbally or in writing. The CAC also includes coaching on task perception, motivation, time management, concentration, and test taking. We provide free programming through one-on-one appointments, workshops, learning plans, and drop-in times. Whether you are just getting started or nearly done your assignment, paper, or award application, our staff can provide valuable guidance.
