Our program

We believe in:

  • Collaborative action to promote the health of populations
  • Community-based approaches with a social justice ethic to reduce preventable disease and premature death
  • Creating partnerships with people to influence change and improve the quality of life for all people
  • Preparing students to work in public health, health promotion and a wide range of health and community services, including governmental and not-for-profit organizations

Studies include public health core courses and a choice of one of 3 areas of focus:

  • Indigenous Peoples’ Health
  • Public Health Nursing
  • Social Policy

A 450 hour practicum provides an opportunity for you to practice and demonstrate public health knowledge and skills within a professional practice setting. A culminating project completes your program.

Flexible learning options

You'll complete the courses online in your own community and attend 3 on-campus experiences at the University of Victoria.
