Faculty and graduate students alike are engaged in research through different research centres at the university, including the Centre for Co-operative and Community-Based Economy and the Centre for Global Studies. Currently, both centres host graduate student fellows from CSPT.

UVic is committed to research that both engages and supports the local community, and is home to the new Institute for Studies & Innovation in Community-University Engagement.
