Room Use Policy - Lower Level Mearns Centre for Learning/McPherson Library

The lower level rooms in the Mearns Centre – McPherson Library (A003 and 025) are designated teaching and learning spaces for the Special Collections and University Archives unit. Priority is given to:

  1. Special Collections and University Archives led classes, events, and lectures.
  2. University classes where Special Collections and University Archives materials are required to be for the teaching and learning course outcomes.[i]

When A003 and 025 are not booked for Special Collections and University Archives purposes as listed above, the space may be booked by other units within UVic Libraries and the Learning Commons partners by contacting Lara Wilson, Director, Special Collections and University Archivist.

If A003 and 025 are not booked by UVic Libraries or partner groups, this room is available as student study space.

Due to the nature of the collections being used in this space, a no food or drink policy is in place for these rooms at all times.

[i] Materials must be used during the time the room is used. That is, if the particular class will not be requiring the use of Special Collections and University Archives for any particular day, then the rooms are not available for booking and an alternate room outside the library must be used.
