High school students

High school students are welcome at UVic Libraries. You can:

  • Use our books, maps and other printed material on site
  • Get a community card and borrow books
  • Use our electronic resources with a guest Netlink ID on our public computer terminals
  • Use UVic Guest wifi on your own device
  • Ask questions at the Ask Us desk, or consult a librarian
  • Make yourself comfortable in our study areas

Prepare for your visit:

  • Check our hours and locations. The Mearns McPherson Library is the "main library," and areas within it may have different hours than the main building.
  • Bring a government issued photo ID (to get your library card and guest computer ID).
  • Search for books before your visit. Note their locations and call numbers so you can find them on the shelves.
  • Bring a flashdrive to save the results of your research, or plan to email resources to yourself via a web based email account.
  • View the High School Students library guide for research tips, help for frequent Grade 11 and 12 assignments, and more.
  • Explore our other Library Guides – there may be a guide on your topic!
  • Make an appointment with a librarian to discuss your research strategy.
  • Check out our events calendar to see upcoming events, workshops and displays.
