Food Trucks

Food trucks can be a great way to add vibrancy and excitement for special events and fundraisers on campus, and the university recently launched a pilot to streamline the process of requesting food trucks for special events. UVic departments can request food truck vendors and locations that have been prequalified to ensure they meet the university’s high safety and environmental standards.

Interested in booking a food truck for your next campus event? Please follow these steps:

  1. Explore initial plans for your event within your department (desired date, time, location).
  2. Fill out an outdoor booking form to secure your outdoor space.
  3. Fill out a food truck form and submit all forms to outdoorbookings@uvic.ca.
  4. Wait for confirmation that the location is secured and food trucks at your event approved, then contact food truck vendors directly using the prequalified vendor list below to check their availability.
  5. Notify outdoorbookings@uvic.ca once confirmed, and a formal UVic service order will be sent to vendors to finalize the booking.

Please contact outdoorbookings@uvic.ca or 250-721-7019 if you have questions or would like more information.

Prequalified Vendors

The university is adding new food trucks to its prequalified list as vendors apply to the program, and the below list will be updated as more vendors are added. Contact outdoorbookings@uvic.ca early in your event planning if you would like to invite a food truck that is not on the prequalified list. Current prequalified vendors include:

Location Fee

There are no location fees for food trucks operating as a pre-paid caterer or for food trucks raising funds for charity.

To keep the program cost neutral for the university, industry-standard location fees may be assessed for food trucks operating on campus as a business to offset associated facility, administrative, and utility costs. These fees are assessed based on the following:

  1. $500 – No limits on price of menu items, food truck is in a high-traffic area (e.g., Quad, close to other food outlets) or during a large event (e.g., Game at CARSA/Stadium).
  2. $250 – Menu items are below $10 (combos above $10 are permitted) OR the event is expected to have lower attendance (e.g.: located in a lower-traffic area, fewer that 500 estimated attendees, occurs April-August or evenings/weekends Sept-March).
  3. $100 – Menu items are below $10 (combos above $10 are permitted) AND the event is expected to have lower attendance. Other special circumstances may be considered, for example, event limited to one faculty or department.
