Facts & stats

As a research institute, we are in the business of collecting and interpreting evidence. Facts and stats are one kind of evidence that emerges from the research. These findings can be useful in helping us understand complex issues and shape effective policies, services and supports.

Any presentation of facts is itself an act of interpretation or story-telling. In this section we present interesting facts and statistics in as simple a way as possible. (More nuanced interpretations can be found in our publications section.) Our intent here is to make the findings accessible to the public and to draw attention to interesting facts, trends or connections that may be significant for advancing understanding, policy or practice.

Our interactive AOD Trend Analyzer tools offer some ways to explore and compare various statistical trends related to alcohol, tobacco and other drug use in BC. You can also browse this section to see other presentations of facts and stats.
