About

I have been teaching at the University of Victoria since 2008. I started as a sessional instructor, then  a half-time senior instructor and now I work as a full time Associate Teaching Professor. My appointment is shared between the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology and the Department of Biology.

Polly Thompson and Sandeep Dhaliwal at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute wrote a short bio about me for their website (find it here) that sums up the early part of my journey. Unfortunately, the picture of the leaf-dappled cove on my website they refer to is gone, replaced by the Jean-Baptiste Jupille statue in front of the Pasteur Institute. Who is Jean-Baptiste Jupille, you may ask? He was a young shepherd that saved several children from a rabid dog, but was injured in the process. Pasteur's new rabies vaccine likely saved  Jupille's life. You can find out more here.
