Groups are offered either in-person or via Zoom. To sign up for any of the following, please email swgroups@uvic.ca and include your name, V-number and the workshop you are interested in.

ADHD Virtual Workshop Series

Join this series of virtual, interactive sessions featuring presentations from the fields of medicine, psychology, nutrition, wellness promotion, pharmacy and academic learning strategists. Any currently registered UVic student with newly diagnosed or known ADHD condition may join.
Sessions can be attended in any order, though are most valuable attended together. Space is limited.

Along Came Poly Workshop

This workshop session focuses on communication strategies for poly, open, and ethically non-monogamous relationships in an affirming group setting. Explore resources to take communication in your poly, open, and ethically non-monogamous relationships to new heights. Whether you are new to ethically non-monogamy (ENM) and looking for a communication starter kit with your partners and connections, or ENM relationship structures are where you’ve made your home, this group offers a space for discovering and deepening resources.

Come explore what the future may have in store for you career-wise!

CBT Skills Group for Anxiety and Depression

Join this 8-week course integrating neuroscience, mindfulness and cognitive behavioural therapy skills and concepts for the treatment of mild to moderate anxiety and depression.

Introduction to the foundational concepts of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), weaving in aspects of mindfulness, emotion regulation and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy over an 8-week series. You will learn these concepts and apply practical skills in your daily life, with the aim of identifying which ones are most helpful to manage your stress and symptoms. Zoom details will be sent to all registrants.

Emotional Regulation Group

Learn concepts, strategies, and techniques that can be used to express and manage your full range of emotions. 

What contributes biologically, developmentally, and socially to our ability to self-regulate?

What concepts, strategies, and techniques can be used to express and manage our full range of emotions in a way that feels right for us?

This psychoeducation group employs experiential CBT, Mindfulness, and body-based practices.

Into the Transverse

This is a group for students who identify as trans, nonbinary, or gender nonconforming. Over the course of these workshops, we will draw on Art Therapy and Narrative Therapy to explore resilience, building affirming connections, and trans joy. Through creative exploration, session focus will be collaboratively determined with group members, focusing on topics like building affirming connections, trans joy, and gender liberation. No previous art-making experience is required.

(Re)Claim and Connect

(Re)Claim and Connect is a guided storytelling group for people of Asian heritage in Canada, including multiracial identities and all regions of Asia, that aims to foster connection to self and to others through writing, witnessing, and sharing personal stories. Each session focuses on themes related to Asian Canadian identity, including place, race, and family. You can find more details in this program information pdf.

This group was developed by Dr. Fred Chou and his colleagues at the University of Victoria and is being offered at the Student Wellness Centre this term. Visit the Growth and Solidarity website for additional details.

Self-Love Don't Cost a Thing

Join us for weekly explorations of strategies to support radical self-compassion in our daily lives.

This group offers the opportunity for students to explore numerous strategies for self-compassion in a supportive environment. Each week will explore new means of bringing self-love into our daily lives, and compassionate considerations for embracing ourselves more fully. Come join our five-week self-love club!
