About Jim Dunsdon
Jim Dunsdon was appointed Associate Vice-President Student Affairs on May 1, 2009. Prior to joining UVic he served as associate vice-provost (student services) at the University of Calgary. Mr. Dunsdon received a Bachelor of Education from the University of Victoria in 1995 and an MBA in Education Management from the University of Leicester, UK in 2005.
Initiatives & responsibilities
Student Affairs is dedicated to supporting student success at UVic. In this position, reporting to the Vice-President Academic and Provost, the Associate Vice-President Student Affairs is responsible for overseeing the programs and services involved in ensuring the overall quality of the student experience.

- Development and implementation of innovative initiatives to support student success, including health and wellness strategies
- Effective integration and collaboration across all areas of recruitment, admissions, registration, and student support
- Strong and cooperative working relationships with the UVSS and the GSS
