Riley Strain’s funeral plans announced
“Riley cherished time spent with family, creating lasting memories,” his obituary said.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The funeral for Riley Strain, the 22-year-old college student whose body was found in the Cumberland River last Friday, has been announced.
According to Strain’s obituary, a visitation will be held on Friday, March 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home in Springfield, Missouri. A celebration of life ceremony will follow.
A private burial will be held at a later time. Strain went missing in Nashville on March 8 after being kicked out of Luke’s 32 Bridge on Broadway. His body was pulled from the Cumberland on March 22 after a two-week-long search.
“Riley was a proud graduate of Kickapoo High School and later attended the University of Missouri Columbia, majoring in business and financial planning,” his obituary says. “Riley’s ambition led to a promising internship at Northwestern Mutual, where he demonstrated a natural acumen for the industry.”

Strain was an active volunteer, was involved in sports, and embraced outdoor activities like hunting and fishing.
“Above all, Riley cherished time spent with family, creating lasting memories,” the obituary said.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Riley’s honor can be made to the Missouri Department of Conservation, with details available at the funeral home.
“Riley often quipped, ‘Green makes you look good,’” the obituary said. “In that spirit, we ask attendees to wear something green and dress comfortably to honor Riley’s love of life.”
