NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Country music artist Morgan Wallen breaks his silence after his arrest earlier this month for throwing a chair off the roof of a Broadway bar.

Wallen was arrested April 7 after he allegedly threw a chair from the rooftop bar of Chief’s around 10:45 p.m., almost hitting two Metro Nashville Police officers standing below on Broadway.

“I didn’t feel right publicly checking in until I made amends with some folks. I’ve touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief’s. I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility,” Wallen said in a statement posted on X, formerly Twitter. “I have the utmost respect for the officers working every day to keep us all safe.”

Chief’s is owned by country music star Eric Church and celebrated its grand opening the same weekend as Wallen’s arrest.

Wallen, 30, was arrested on three counts of felony reckless endangerment and one count of disorderly conduct. According to his arrest affidavit, witnesses watched him pick up a chair, throw it over the roof, and laugh about it.

The officers said the chair landed three feet from them, according to the affidavit. Officers spoke with bar staff and witnesses, and reviewed security footage, which all confirmed Wallen’s alleged actions.

Worrick Robinson, Wallen’s attorney, said after the incident that Wallen “is cooperating fully with authorities.”

Wallen is due in court on May 3, which is the second day of three scheduled performances at Nissan Stadium. Wallen said in the statement there would be no change in his tour.
