‘Do better’: Students, parents disappointed after Tennessee school vandalized during senior prank

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A senior prank has left several student’s future in jeopardy after Spring Hill High School in Columbia, Tennessee was vandalized overnight, forcing the district to cancel classes Friday.
Pictures shared with WSMV of the prank’s aftermath show several classrooms full of broken desks, powder and toilet tissue on the ground.
The damage also extends to the hallway where trash and furniture could be seen throughout the school.
“There’s just like no words for it,” student Logan Styers said. “It’s dumb. I just think nobody thought through it.”
It’s unclear how the students were able to gain access to the building or the full extent of the damage.
Hours after the “prank,” law enforcement was seen at the campus talking with administrators.

The Maury County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that multiple students were involved and have not ruled out the possibility of them facing charges.
As many questions surround what actually took place, parents hope it serves as a wakeup call for students.
“Do better,” parent Patti Myers said. “You guys are so amazing; you have such potential in your hands. We just want to see the best for you as parents, as administrators, as teachers.”
It’s still unclear how the incident will impact students as graduation approaches in the coming weeks.
School Superintendent Lisa Ventura said Friday afternoon the damage wasn’t as bad as first believed.
“I am happy to report that damage at Spring Hill High School was not as extensive as originally perceived. An investigation regarding individuals who participated is ongoing,” Ventura said in a statement on social media. “I am also happy to share that school will be in session on Monday, May 6. I appreciate everyone’s concern and we are blessed to live in a community that reaches out in support when we are in need. I would like to give a special thank you to all who helped put our high school back in order.”
