Lydia Fielder

Lydia Fielder is an Emmy-nominated anchor and reporter at WSMV4. She joined the team in October 2021.

Her notable coverage of the Midstate includes on-the-ground reporting from the Covenant School tragedy, the deadly Dec. 9 tornado outbreak, and the Antioch High School shooting and subsequent safety changes district-wide. She picked up an Emmy nomination as part of the joint effort on “Our Stories, Too” -- a Black History Month special that discusses how persons of color are breaking into the country music industry that has long lacked diversity.

She's also garnered exclusive interviews with some big stars -- like comedian and Nashville native Nate Bargatze. Some of her favorite work includes hosting red carpets for the CMA Awards and the Grand Ole Opry 100 year celebration.

She came to Nashville from Northwest Arkansas, where she spent 2.5 years as a reporter and fill-in anchor. Lydia also grew up in the area.

Her notable coverage there included the federal Josh Duggar child sexual abuse material trial, an exclusive interview with an Arkansan charged in the U.S. Capitol riots, and many flooding and tornado events.

The second day of Lydia’s career in journalism was the first day of the COVID-19 pandemic in the U.S. She credits the pandemic with helping her engineer creative ways and different angles to deliver news.

Her favorite memory in was spending a week in Omaha, Nebraska, covering the Arkansas Razorback baseball team in the 2022 College World Series (Woo Pig Sooie!).

Lydia graduated with highest honors from the University of Arkansas with a major in broadcast journalism and minors in political science and Spanish. There, she was an anchor and reporter for UATV News. Her two years of work on her honors thesis culminated in a 30 minute documentary about the physical and psychological dangers of international journalism.

During her time off, you can likely find Lydia on a run (jog), at a live sporting event or on the dance floor.

She’d love to hear your story ideas or just a friendly “hello.” Email her anytime at Lydia.Fielder@wsmv.com.
