NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The severe threat has diminished, but some downpours could still cause minor flooding in parts of the area today.

FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY

Showers and storms will continue to move in from the south this morning. We’ll have off-and-on showers and storms through the remainder of today so be sure to keep that umbrella handy. The severe threat has diminished across the Mid State, but an isolated, embedded strong storm will also be possible.

However, heavy rain, ponding, and temporary poor driving conditions are the main focus, though an isolated storm could have a gusty wind to go along with it.

Showers and storms will gradually taper off this evening and into tonight.

THIS WEEKEND

A few showers will linger into the first part of Saturday, but we will try and work on some sunshine Saturday afternoon.

Highs Saturday will try and push back near 80 again.

Sunday, our weather will finally begin to dry out. I can’t totally rule out an isolated shower, but Sunday looks partly sunny and much warmer. The high will be around 85.

NEXT WEEK

Partly cloudy and even hotter weather is on the way for Monday and Tuesday of next week. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s.

Showers and storms return late Wednesday and into our day Thursday with highs in the 80s.
