NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Rain showers and thunderstorms will continue through the first half of the weekend, but once the rain clears out, temperatures will warm up significantly.

We’ll start off with dense patchy fog in some areas across the Mid State this morning, especially in areas north of I-40 and into southern Kentucky. It will be a wet day for many as showers and thunderstorms will stick around today before clearing out tonight. While the severe weather potential is very low today, we could get a few isolated thunderstorms that produce some heavy downpours and gusty wind. Highs will be a little cooler than average in the mid to upper 70s this afternoon.

Sunday will be much drier and much warmer. Plan on a decent amount of sunshine throughout the day with high temperatures climbing into the upper 80s. Lows remain in the low 60s.

The hot, dry weather carries into the first half of the week. Monday will be partly cloudy and warm again in the upper 80s. We will make a run at our first 90º day of the year on Tuesday with the sunshine sticking around.

Temperatures fall back to where they should be for this time of the year by the end of the week. We’ll be back around 80º Thursday and Friday but both days will feature scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the day.
