NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Franklin police are deploying extra patrol officers over the weekend to monitor impaired driving.

They’re urging residents to have a designated driver.

Extra officers will be present over the weekend, patrolling the streets on the lookout for impaired drivers. FPD said that about a third of all crashes that occur on Cinco de Mayo have historically involved a drunk driver.

“The Franklin Police Department has zero tolerance for impaired driving on our streets. If you’re going to drink and drive in the City of Franklin, chances are that you will wind up behind bars, in a hospital bed, or even worse,” according to Franklin Police Chief Deb Faulkner.

Uber, Lyft and local taxi companies are available in the city. If you see a drunk driver, you’re asked to call 911.
