NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A driver for HopSkipDrive, a rideshare company touted as a safe way for students to get to school, is accused of masturbating while driving two teenage sisters to their Nashville school.

Anthony Etuk, 51, had been driving the 16-year-old and 15-year-old sisters to school at WA Bass Learning Center in Nashville for about a month when the incident occurred, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

On April 16, Etuk was driving them to school when the teens told police he started “getting flirtations” and asking to see pictures of them both. He also allegedly asked where they’d be during the summer since he wouldn’t be driving them anymore after the school year ended.

During the conversation, police said Etuk began masturbating, took wrong turns to purposefully extend the ride, and then stopped at a gas station to clean himself up before continuing the route to the teens’ school.

One of teenage girls recorded the ordeal, according to police.

HopSkipDrive released the following statement in regard to the incident: “Safety is everything to HopSkipDrive and the driver’s alleged behavior described in this report is abhorrent and completely unacceptable. Immediately upon learning of this report last month, we removed this driver’s access to our platform as we investigated and have been in touch with our clients at Metro Nashville Public Schools to support them and extend our support to the riders. We’ve also reached out to law enforcement to assist with their investigation in any way possible. Since day one, HopSkipDrive has invested in tools and products to put safety at the core of everything we do. This includes a 15-point certification for drivers, live ride telematics, a dedicated Safe Ride Support team, and publishing our safety data annually to lead the industry with transparency. This work is never done and we’re committed to continually raising the bar for the industry.”

Etuk is charged with sexual exploitation of a minor.
