FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WSMV) - A plastic surgeon from Louisiana is confirmed to be the pilot of the plane that crashed near Franklin on Wednesday afternoon, colleagues confirmed to WAFB on Thursday.

Baton Rouge plastic surgeon Dr. Lucius “Tre” Doucet was the pilot of the plane that crashed in Tennessee yesterday, killing all three people on board, colleagues confirmed.

Doucet’s colleagues have issued a statement after his death, calling him an “esteemed colleague and cherished team member.”

The identities of the two passengers on board have not been released at this time. The National Transportation Safety Board is planning to give an update Thursday afternoon.

Crews have switched their focus on search and recovery in the area of the crash. The debris field covers a half-mile radius, Chief Deputy Mark Elrod reported during a news conference on Wednesday afternoon.

First responders and additional crews worked through the night and are expected to continue recovery efforts into Thursday evening. The plane initially left from an airfield in Gonzales, Louisiana, which is in the greater Baton Rouge area, and was headed for Louisville, Kentucky, the WCSO reported.

Roads are set to be reopened late Thursday afternoon. The FAA and the NTSB are investigating this crash.
