NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - U.S. Army soldier stationed at Fort Campbell is charged with rape after a woman contacted the Metro Nashville Police Department to file a report.

Timothy Glass is accused of raping a woman who was heavily intoxicated and asleep inside a room at the Red Roof Inn on Claridge Drive in Nashville in February.

According to police, the victim and a group of friends were visiting Nashville and staying one floor below the suspect and his group of friends. Both groups had been in the victim’s room drinking earlier in the evening.

Police say Glass returned to the room to get something he left behind, but then never left.

The victim said she woke up to Glass raping her, according to police.

She went to the restroom and told her friends, who were also in the room at the time, what had happened, an affidavit states.

They asked the suspect to leave.

Police tried to interview the suspect at Ft. Campbell, but Glass declined to comment, according to an affidavit.

A sample of Glass’ DNA and a rape kit from the victim were sent to the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Laboratory for processing.

“We can confirm that the service member is assigned to Fort Campbell,” a spokesman wrote in an email. “We are cooperating with Army investigative and local law enforcement authorities on this matter.”
