Vandal arrested for hitting cars, damaging historic planters, entrance door of state Capitol

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Multiple security cameras captured a man slashing tires, vandalizing historic planters, and damaging an entrance door at the Tennessee State Capitol in Nashville on May 10, according to a report from the Metro Nashville Police Department.

The damage was estimated to cost more than $2500 to repair or replace.

Five days later MNPD officers said they caught up with 20-year-old Dreykar McClain, who fit the description of the vandal, according to an affidavit.

During the encounter with police, McClain told officers he was not responsible for the vandalism.

He was arrested and charged with vandalism and drug possession.
