MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WSMV) - One person was killed and another person was injured in a shooting at a Murfreesboro gas station on Joe B. Jackson Parkway on Wednesday afternoon.

A man who said he witnessed the commotion said he heard what sounded like more than six sun shots and watched in awe waiting for police who were called to arrive.

“Bruh’s down. He got shot. Bruh’s down. He got shot,” Daydrion Collier said.

Cellphone video shows the moment Collier said chills shot down his spine.

“Bro, we have to call 911,” Collier’s co-worker said.

The video showed two men repeatedly punch another man inside of a car in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven.

“Bruh, they’re beating the s**t out of bruh,” Collier said.

Collier said they recorded it all from the other side of the nearby Burger King drive-thru window. Collier said the beating started with a string of gunshots.

“It sounded like somebody was at your door, just with a pistol, but it was louder than that,” Collier said.

At around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Murfreesboro police said two men pulled into the 7-Eleven gas station on Joe B. Jackson Parkway in a black pickup truck.

“From there, two men pulled up in a Mercedes, a silver Mercedes. A confrontation ensued and then there were gun shots,” Murfreesboro Police spokesman Larry Flowers said.

Flowers said the shooters were the two men inside the black pickup truck.

Officers said the men shot the two men inside the Mercedes, and then started beating them up.

“They brought the other dude out of the car and started beating on him,” Collier said.

Police said one man who was shot multiple times laid on the ground while the other man who was shot was beaten up, pulled out of his car and lunged at before he ran into the gas station to call for help.

“All of that was just in a split second,” Collier said. “I was really trying to make sure my people were safe. That’s really who I was worried about. We locked the doors and made sure we were good in our environment.”

Police arrested the alleged shooter and the two people who were shot were rushed to a nearby hospital. One of the men, a 23-year-old who has not been identified, later died.

Police said they’re working to figure out the motive behind the gun shots.
