CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - It has been a week of mourning for the family and friends of Isaiah Henderson, who tragically lost his life in a shooting nearly three weeks ago. As they laid him to rest, Isaiah’s loved ones are hoping Clarksville police find his killer soon.

Isaiah’s father, Elijah Henderson, said everyone loved his son. He talked to WSMV4 about the impact Isaiah had on those around him, saying, “He changed lives including mine.”

The loss of Isaiah has left a void that his family struggles to fill.

“My son [was] very resilient and he makes it through everything in life, so I expected him to be okay,” Elijah expressed.

Back in April, the 22-year-old was fatally shot inside Smooves Bar and Grill off Fort Campbell Boulevard. Isaiah’s parents reflected on the moments following the incident, receiving phone calls that shattered their world.

“On my way to the hospital I was thinking that my son was only shot like in the upper thigh,” recalled Lashanda Henderson, Isaiah’s mother. “Then I got a couple of other calls telling me that it was worse than what I thought. And when I got to the hospital of course that came to fruition.”

Investigators said Isaiah was shot in the stomach and later died at the hospital. Now, his family has questions about the circumstances surrounding his death. Lashanda wonders how her son’s killer managed to enter the bar with a gun.

“My son went to a party, and security checked him at the door to make sure that he didn’t have any weapons... So my son went into an establishment that he thought he could go in and have a good time,” she shared. “Somebody else shot my son seven times. I hope that they find who did it and that justice is served.”

Despite the ongoing investigation, Clarksville police have yet to make any arrests.

Lashanda, who lives in Kentucky, wants more families to be aware of Tennessee’s Criminal Injuries Compensation Fund, which offers support to innocent victims of violent crimes in the state. Their relatives may be eligible for compensation if the victim is killed as a result of the violent crime.
