First Alert Weather Day: Strong-to-severe storms today
Hail and gusty winds are in play on Tuesday.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A First Alert Weather Day has been issued for today with a strong-to-severe storm or two possible in the afternoon and evening.
FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY
Scattered showers and storms are expected to develop across the Mid State today so make sure you don’t forget to leave the house without the umbrella this morning. We are under a First Alert Weather Day because some of those storms could be on the strong to severe side this afternoon and this evening. The greatest severe threat is along and east of I-65 at a 2/5 on the threat scale, the rest of the Mid State is at a 1/5 because of heavy rainfall in west Middle Tennessee earlier this morning. Main storm threats will be hail and some brief gusty winds. Any storm could also have a nice downpour along with it
The afternoon high will be in the mid-70s.
The bulk of the rain should taper off overnight with lows dropping into the mid-60s.

LATE WEEK
Thursday looks like the best day of the week by far with our weather staying completely dry and we’ll even work on getting some sunshine back for the day. Highs on Thursday will also push back into the 80s.
More showers and thunderstorms move into the Mid State on Friday. The high will be in the upper 70s.
THIS WEEKEND
A few showers will linger into part of the weekend. Right now Saturday looks to be the better day to see a passing rain shower, but overall the rainfall coverage will be isolated
Lows will be in the 60s. We’ll have highs in the low-mid 80s.
NEXT WEEK
Monday will kick off next week with heat, humidity, and the outside chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorm over southern Kentucky and/or northern Middle Tennessee. The high will reach the mid-80s.
