NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The former Titans scout indicted in the death of his girlfriend and unborn baby has been released from jail.

Blaise Taylor, 28, was released from jail in Nashville on a $2.5 million bond at 9:42 a.m. on Friday. State law only required Taylor to pay 10% of that bond, or $250,000.

Taylor is accused of poisoning Jade Benning on Feb. 25, 2023, and the unborn baby which Taylor allegedly fathered. Benning was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by ambulance after Taylor called 911 and said Benning appeared to be having an allergic reaction and asked for paramedics.

Police said Benning’s condition immediately became critical. Her unborn fetus died on Feb. 27. Benning was not able to be interviewed by detectives before she died on March 6, 2023, according to police.

Police said months of investigation, led by homicide detectives and supported by scientists from its crime lab and doctors, led to Taylor’s murder indictment. At a recent court hearing, a medical examiner testified Benning had so much cocaine in her system, she couldn’t have died from recreational use.

Until Friday, Blaise had remained jailed since his arrest on March 26.
