BOSTON (WHDH) - After a 25-year-old Boston man called 911 asking if someone could wish him a happy birthday, two police officers responded with a sweet surprise.

Officer Israel Bracho was one of two Boston Police officers who showed up at 25-year-old Chris’ home after the man called 911 just after midnight Thursday to ask if someone could wish him a happy birthday.

“We didn’t believe it at first. We kind of thought it was a joke. So, once we verified it actually was his birthday, we said, ‘Well, everyone has one birthday. Everyone deserves to feel special on that one day,’” Bracho said.

The officers decided to make the moment memorable for Chris, stopping to buy candles and a muffin before getting to his home around 12:40 a.m.

“On our way there, we decided you can’t show up at someone’s house empty-handed. My mother raised me right. She would have killed me if I didn’t,” Bracho said.

Body camera captured the sweet moments that began once the officers stepped up to Chris’ door. The two sang “Happy Birthday” to the 25-year-old once inside.

The officers’ simple act of kindness made Chris’ birthday one for the books. The 25-year-old says they made his day.
