NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Tennessee Titans select Alabama offensive tackle JC Latham with the seventh overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Latham is a 6′6″, 360-pound second team 2023 Associated Press All-American.

He started all 13 games this season at right tackle and 25 for his career.

The Titans came into this draft looking to fill needs at key positions.

This does that.

After watching the Los Angeles Chargers take Notre Dame tackle Joe Alt with the fifth pick and the New York Giants take LSU receiver Malik Nabers at six, the Titans get an offensive lineman to help out the offense.

Former Alabama coach Nick Saban said on ABC that Latham is one of the most powerful guys he’s ever had.

Titans General Manager Ran Carthon said picking this high, he was looking for a “plug and play guy,” meaning a Day 1 starter. The Titans spent months working toward finding that person.

The team is coming off a 6-11 season that followed a 7-10 campaign. The Titans have missed the playoffs for the last two seasons.

Now they have a new head coach and a new collaborative philosophy in the front office to try to build the team back into a contender.

Carthon and company began that process by adding key free agent additions in the offseason, like running back Tony Pollard, receiver Calvin Ridley and cornerback L’Jarius Sneed. Free agency sets up the draft and the Titans will look to continue to stockpile talent over the next two days.

Right now, they have six more selections, including a 2nd-round pick (38th overall) on Friday.
