Remember the famous words from the preface of SICP?

Programs must be written for people to read, and only incidentally for machines to execute.

Why should we believe this when the author doesn't even believe his own words? Are the authors hypocrites? The author is essentially saying: "do as I say, not as I do".

Accurate context is absolutely critical for clear thinking. Can you describe the context of what's written in SICP? Can you describe the context in which you accuse "him" of "do as I say, not as I do".
