A lot of tech idols use .org domains for their personal sites.
example: catb.org, stallman.org, bellard.org
Is there a reason to prefer a .org domain over a .com domain when the prices are similar.
I'm asking this for a personal blog and project showcase site.

People tend to remember .com sites better than .org sites. People also tend to mistakenly enter .com instead of .org in many cases which might become a problem if someone registers the .com site.

Boomer-tier advice. Every decent .com domain is owned by domain scalpers at this point. Any half-decent business/product name you come up with will have its .com domain listed by some levantine for $20k. You're better off using your actual non-abbreviated, non-prefixed company/product name with one of the wacky new gtlds. Normalfags don't type domain names in anyways, they use social media, google, and app-stores to look you up.
