A conundrum

1 2023-07-13 14:06

I want to get back to programming, both for personal interest and for profit.
If I am to enjoy it at all (and to learn anything of value, really), I would learn Lisp. But if I want to make a profit in the future, I would need to learn something else entirely (C++ or something).
I can't focus on both and make progress, because I can't be constantly switching modes of thinking. If I learn one I will lose practice in the other, so I risk being competent but useless, or a marketable drudge.
How to get out?

Do both
There's enough time

I don't understand why you will mysteriously forget imperative programming just because you know how to Lisp programming.
