Car programming

How do I program my 20 year old Toyota Corolla? I want to automate the control of wipers, lights, windows, air conditioning, etc. based on data from sensors. I could also add a head-up display (HUD) that displays information and gives visual warnings of dangers on the road (using proximity sensors, radar, lidar, and computer vision). Of course, the car should also be made self-driving so that a chauffeur would not be necessary. I do not want to wait for car companies to launch their overpriced privacy-invasive proprietary autopilot products.

I would find out what is the car communication protocol of the specific model. If it wasn't an open protocol, then you'd have to get extremely intimate with automotive electricals to decipher it. When you finally get access to the protocol, then doing all that is a matter of sending and receiving the messages on the communication bus. You'd need significant electrical skills to be able to physically trace wiring and diagnose electrical faults.

You need a Linux car.
