Candidates mıst have a high school diploma or equivalent, and the score of the Higher Education Institutions Examination by the the Centre for Measurement Selection and Placement, which has a score of sufficient score, indicates that they are placed in the relevant department.

Students enrolled in the program can be exempted from the courses they have achieved in the higher education institutions they have already studied. Also; An exemption examination is opened at the beginning of each academic year for the foreign language course and the proposals of the relevant committees and courses approved by Senate. Students who score 60 or more on the exemption exam are exempt from these courses.

In order to graduate from the Plant Protection program, students must have successfully completed 120 ECTS credit hours and have successfully completed 30 workday summer internship. In addition to this, it is essential that the overall academic grade point average is at least 2.00 over 4.00.

The objectives of Associate Degree programme in Plant Protection are; to provide theoretical knowledge and to give practical training to students on agriculturally important diseases and pests, biology and ecology of pathogens and pests, host-pathogen interactions pesticides and their effects in the environment, mechanical, cultural, chemical, biological, biotechnological control and integrated pest management for pathogens and pests; to provide qualified employee needs of the private and public agricultural industry for crop protection.

Graduates may find employment opportunities; Public Institutions; (Provincial/District Directorates of Agriculture, Municipal Departments of Parks, Gardens and Green Fields), Companies of Agricultural Chemicals, Environmental Health Services, Firms of Biotechnical Control Products, Firms of Seeds, Saplings and Seedlings, Pesticide Residue Analysis Laboratories, Firms of Organic Farming, Firms of Biological Control Products

Graduates are vertically transferred to departments of Plant Protection in Agriculture Faculties.

Whether the students are successful or not is assessed in two stages: a midterm exam and a final exam. Besides midterms, quizzes, projects, assignments, other activities that researchers and instructors consider appropriate can be done. The number of these activites and their contribution to the achievement grade is indicated in the course plan by the instructor. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. 40% of the midterm and 60% of the final exam constitute the success grade. Success grade is converted to a letter grade via Relative grade system. In order for a student to be considered successful in a course, he must obtain CC as a minimum grade. Students with a GANO score of at least 2.00 (DC) and (DD) are considered successful in the courses they have taken. Students who do not have a failed course, but whose GANO is below 2.00, must first repeat the courses (DC) and (DD) to get their GANOs above 2.00 in order to graduate.

1 Recognize plant diseases, pest and weeds and identify urban pests,and know their biology and damage , and apply basic and innovative approches for their management and control. 2 To be able to become familiar with agricultural management control methods and their use in control of plant diseases, pests and weeds in cultivated agricultural crops, 3 To be able to diagnose and identify plant diseases, insect, mite or nematode pests or weeds that cause economical losses in stored crops and products, 4 To be able to use pesticides safely and effectively and informed about their hazardous non-target effects on the environment and human health. 5 To be able to learn plant protection products and their practice in organic agriculture and good agricultural practices (ITU) 6 To be able to evaluate the information obtained throughout the learning process with cause-effect relations, to be able to collect data and transfer the results to practice, and to predict where, when and why to use the information 7 The ability to use basic instruments and equipments necessary for plant protection 8 To be able to have general knowledge about sowing, planting, irrigation, fertilizing, harvesting and mechanization of culture plants, 9 To be able to comply with the rules of professional, cultural and social ethics, to be entrepreneur and to use sign language when necessary. 10 To be able to be an individual who knows Atatürk's principles and revolutions, internalise and uses them in his/ her life 11 To be able to use Turkish effectively in daily and professional life, to be able to communicate through oral and written communications in his / her field 12 Individual has the ability to produce a project solution with a sense of social responsibility and practice in the field, and to take advantage of information technologies. 13 Individual can explain the general properties, morphological and physiological features, development and metamorphosis of the insects. 14 To be have sufficient consciousness about occupational health and safety issues 15 To be able to have a sufficient level of foreign language, to be able to follow the sources in his/her field and to communicate with colleagues 16 Individual has a basic knowledge on insect collection, preparation, identification, nomenclature, classification; status of insects in biodiversity and phylogenetic interactions (classical or molecular) between insect orders. The individual can distinguish the morphological, physiological, biological and ecological features of the order and families of the pest species. 17 Individual has a basic knowledge on the identitification, classification, morphology, physiology, bio-ecology, reproductive patterns, host selection, natural enemies, economic importance, the damage patterns and the control of plant parasitic nematodes and mites. 18 Individual can explain the weeds that are harmful in agriculture together with their damage patterns, bio-ecologies and control methods. 19 Plant Protection in disciplines relevant issues and concepts, principles and events comprehend.
