The John Muir Institute of the Environment (JMIE) is a center of excellence for research and outreach programs related to the biological, physical, and human environment at the University of California, Davis. The Institute encourages and facilitates interdisciplinary environmental research and outreach programs on the Davis campus. It provides an administrative home for existing and proposed research centers and focused workgroups related to the environmental sciences; and it coordinates with environmental extension units and graduate groups as appropriate.
