Designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish, this beautiful facility is tucked away in the craggy ridges and buttes of South Mountain. Its wide rolling fairways are irresistible! This championship course is a picturesque golf paradise and definitely worth your consideration.
The design dream team of Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish designed the Foothills Golf Club in 1988, and it remains a picturesque golfing paradise.
Seductively secluded in the craggy ridges and buttes of South Mountain, the wide rolling fairways of this lush, green course are irresistible. The desert terrain is also in play in front of some greens. There are lakes that come into play on three holes at the Foothills Golf Club, including Nos. 14 and 15, which both play around the same hazard. The par-72, links-style golf course stretches more than 6,968 yards and has a course rating/slope of 72.6 and 128.
The Foothills has appeal for golfers of any level. This championship golf course is definitely worth your consideration for a challenging round of golf or a special event.
by Vic Russel on March 08th, 2023 16:47Played here on March 5, great weather. We were enthused knowing that this had recently become a Troon course, and the customer service from bag drop, to the snack bar, to the tee box was excellent.
Our expectations were dampened once we got out onto the golf course. There seems to have been little attention paid to this golf course for some time. The tee boxes were lumpy with sparse vegetation, fairways were fair with constant bald spots and hard pack, the rough was mostly hardpack with sparce bermuda, weeds, and assorted vegetation volunteers, and the greens were more of the same.
On a positive note, the bunkers had good sand. But pay attention to the little details. Most bunkers had too few rakes, several large bunkers had only one. Water and fertilizer cost a lot of money these days, but bunker rakes? Not so much.
I would hope that this course will be resurrected soon as it is an interesting and challenging layout. Perhaps there are or will be new ownership.
by LR on October 25th, 2015 07:48Course condition is as good as I've seen over the last four years. Looks as if they're doing all the right things to bring this GC up to where it should be. Will continue to keep playing here to watch the improvement.
by Michael Wickett on May 14th, 2015 14:50As a resident of the Foothills I was embarrassed and disappointed that such a beautiful golf property would be allowed to fall into the level neglect exhibited by Foothills Golf Inc. Turf conditions are horrible and have been since 2013 through present, May of 2015. This Tom Weiskopf design deserves better.

by Ted on November 10th, 2014 14:07This course has not been maintained very well and conditions on many holes are very sub standard. It is highly overpriced for a very poor golf experience. It is a crying shame as it is a good layout - it would be fun to play if they had grass !
by Rick on October 16th, 2014 19:28 Played the Foothills for the first time today and was very impressed. Well manicured and in amazing condition considering they have just come out of overseeing. Staff more than accommodating and eager to please. Great value for you entertainment dollars.
by Mikey B on February 28th, 2011 19:35Awesome value! The course was in outstanding shape, and the staff was more than friendly. It is definitely as good as most places that are twice the price around town.
