Wildfire Golf Club opened in 1986 with its first course designed by Arnold Palmer, which was later complemented by the Faldo Course in 2002. The location is one of its finest assets, just 16 miles from downtown Phoenix and 10 miles from downtown Scottsdale. The newer Faldo Championship Course sits on a 174-acre site, and offers a slight variation from the typical desert-theme courses.

The newer Faldo Championship Course sits on a 174-acre site, and offers a slight variation from the typical desert-theme courses. It features generous fairways, large bent grass greens and tee boxes. The surrounding mountains and century-old saguaro cacti, as well as 106 sand bunkers reminiscent of the Australian Sand Belt golf courses, with lips ranging from five to 25 feet, are also key elements of the course. From tee to green, the traps protect the 6,850-yard layout from long knockers, and hands down make the Faldo Course one of the valley's best precision golf tracks.
by Neil Cobb on May 21st, 2019 18:28We played this afternoon in a howling wind that gusted near 50 mph. Not the best weather for a 108-bunker course but we were fortunate and only had to play out of a half-dozen PERFECTLY FILLED AND DRESSED traps. The greens were impeccable and I was pleased to fix the very occasional ball mark that we found. A five-iron from 200 on the under-rated 454 yard 12th barely left a dent. Not a single green showed any sign of wear and every single putt rolled true. The greens were not fast (probs 9 or 10 on Stimp) but they held and were extremely fair. Every putt I missed was on me. The last six holes into that wind got the best of us but we had a truly great day. Never saw another soul and played in just over three hours with a noon-ish tee-off. Love Wildfire.
