Understanding society

Sociology looks at social aspects of life, how societies are organized, and how they shape human behaviour.

We examine current social problems while stressing social justice, equality and equity.

With us, you'll study a wide variety of topics from global social movements to the divisions of race, gender, sexuality and class. You'll also get exciting hands-on, experiential learning opportunities.

Territory acknowledgment
We acknowledge and respect the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples on whose traditional territory the university stands, and the Songhees, Esquimalt and WSÁNEĆ peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day.
